Audio/Video Revolution (www.avrev.com) named Led Zeppelin the #1 rock band of all time. Here's how they came to their decision. There was a 550 point scale which included US Sales (100 points), Songs and Songwriting (100 points), Technical Ability (100 points), Innovation (100 points), Live Performance (50 Points), Consistency vs. Longevity (50 Points), and Random Play (50 Points). Random Play is judged based on whether the judges are likely to listen to the song if it came up on an iPod, quirkier bands often ranked higher in this category. Individual artists are not considered. Led Zeppelin trailed The Beatles in many categories, but only by a few points. Where they really beat the Beatles is in Technical Ability. I have to agree with that.
